Rayburn Barron died from gunshot wounds
On October 21, 2021, Ali Abulaban walked into his estranged wife’s apartment where he shot and killed Rayburn Barron before shooting his wife who also died on the spot. Further investigation revealed that Rayburn had been shot three times while Ana Abulaban was shot once on the forehead.
Prior to these incidents, Ali had been kicked out of the home he shared with his wife Ana and their then 5-year-old daughter due to his incessant domestic abuse of Ana, including several that had come in the presence of their daughter. He had reportedly done as she had requested and checked himself into a nearby hotel.
Further investigation revealed that before he left, Ali made a copy of the key to their home and had sneaked back into the house when his wife and their daughter were absent. He had then proceeded to thrash the apartment before installing a listening device on their daughter’s iPad to monitor Ana and what went on in the house.
Ali was kicked out of the apartment on the 18th of October 2021, he returned a few days later to install the device and on October 21, 2021, he was back again to commit the crime that now has him in jail. Through the listening device, Ali had heard his estranged wife chatting and laughing with another man and erroneously assumed that she was cheating on him.
He quickly rushed to the apartment with a gun with which he proceeded to shoot Rayburn three times before turning the weapon on his wife and shooting her in the head. Ali then drove away with their daughter. On his way away from the crime scene, he called his mother to confess what he had done. He also called the police who arrested him 45 minutes later.
