Her Willow Rosenberg role
For the entire seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Alyson Hannigan depicted the role of Willow Rosenberg, but actress, Riff Regan originally played the role. In the Joss Whedon created series, Riff merely completed the unaired Buffy pilot following which the role was recast. This led Hannigan to get a chance at a breakout role.
Willow Rosenberg, a 10th grader at Sunnydale High was the best friend of Buffy Summers and Xander. Though she had a shy personality, Rosenberg can also be a nerd sometimes, making her a target for bullies. The ridicule notwithstanding, she managed to retain her upbeat demeanor. After she learned about Buffy’s identity as a Slayer. Willow assisted in founding the Scooby Gang, often functioning as a sidekick to her friend.
As the plot unfolds, Riff Regan’s character emerged as one powerful witch who became more self-confident and eventually ended up as a lesbian. Pitching the TV series to networks with the unaired pilot, its low-quality production exposed Regan as unfit for the TV series. She lacked that chemistry with other cast members and what’s more, her character was perceived as timid.
