One of such actors is Garette Ratliff Henson. Despite appearing in several other movies, his role as Guy in The Mighty Ducks is the primary thing that comes to mind when his name is mentioned.
Let’s delve into some more facts about the Mighty Ducks star.
Garette was born in California
Garette Ratliff Henson was born on January 5, 1980, in Burbank, California, United States of America, as Garette Patrick Henson. His father is another famous filmmaker named George Ratliff, hence the Ratliff in his name. The exact identity of his mom is not available but credible sources have pointed out the fact that she was a professional photographer. Garette was born under the Zodiac sign of Capricorn.
His birth and parentage bestowed him with American citizenship. However, there are no official records with regards to his ethnicity but images of the 44-year-old Hollywood star, both as a child and as an adult, most likely place him under the Caucasian ethnic group, with traditional blond hair and brown eyes.
Given that he spent his early years in Burbank, California, a young Garette attended an unnamed private primary school in Burbank before going on to graduate from Sarah Lawrence College, Westchester, New York City, in 2002. Around 13 years later, he made a decision to get further formal training and bagged an MFA in film from Columbia University in 2015.
Garette Ratliff Henson and Elden Henson are actually brothers
It probably wouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to note that Garette Ratliff Henson and his co-star on The Mighty Ducks film franchise, Elden Henson are actually blood brothers. Elden, who played the role of Fulton Reed in the Mighty Ducks movies, was born as Elden Ryan Ratcliff on August 30, 1977, almost three years before Garette was born. Unlike Garette who was born in Burbank, California, Elden was born in Rockville, Maryland.
Elden is not Garette’s only sibling. He has another brother named Erick Ratliff. Erick is also an actor who has appeared in movies like Growing Pains (1985), Sledge Hammer (1986), and Elvis and Me (1988) where he appeared alongside his brother Elden.
It has been alleged that Elden changed his name to Ratcliff and also dyed his hair brown during the audition for the role of Fulton Reed on The Mighty Ducks to get the part.
Garette also has a half-brother named Ellington Ratliff from his father’s second marriage. Ellington is a musician and functions as a member of a band called R5.
He began acting at a very young age
The 44-year-old actor was quite cute as a baby and that ruby angelic face just sucked one in. Not surprisingly, his time in the spotlight began almost as soon as he was out of diapers. He was a baby model and appeared in quite a number of ad campaigns in the early 80s. At the age of seven, he got to play the part of Cory Charming in the short-lived 1987 series, The Charmings.
Just after the second installment of The Mighty Ducks trilogy, Garette was cast in the role of Vic DePhillippi in the movie Casper, released in 1995. In the movie, he portrayed the love interest of Christina Ricci’s character. The actor has more than 25 movie credits to his name but it could be argued that his most important movie appearance came in The Mighty Ducks trilogy. In fact, the movie got him a Young Artist Award Nomination in 1993.

Garette Ratliff portrayed an iconic role in The Mighty Ducks…
It started out as just another sports movie but by the time the second installment of the film came around, The Mighty Ducks was on its way to achieving legendary status. Garette, who already had a backlog of childhood movies, played the recurring role of Guy “Gee” Germaine in the trilogy. His character, who was essentially a secondary one, is a young lad who hails from St. Paul Minnesota.
Guy is a forward hockey player who wears the number 00 on his jersey. In spite of his quite advanced skill, his smaller stature makes him a target for unscrupulous opponents who often consider his presence on the ice a threat to their chances of winning. His skill, which is only second to that of Adam Banks in the movie, means that Guy is more often than not selected ahead of some of his teammates. Along with the Hall brothers, Guy forms the “Oreo Line”. At the end of D3: The Mighty Ducks, Guy ends up married to his long-time girlfriend, Connie Morreau, and they have three kids together.
…And then vanished from the silver screen for seven years
Henson picked up a few more acting gigs between the end of filming for D3: The Mighty Ducks and early 1998. At this point, things had considerably slowed down for the actor who wanted a different experience in his life.
Given that he didn’t really have a traditional childhood because of his early involvement in movies, Garette made the decision to go to college. From 1998 to 2002, the American actor, who had gained iconic status, attended Sarah Lawrence College. A period when he concedes to focusing on grabbing a college degree.
He spent a further 2 years after college re-familiarizing himself with the movie industry before returning in 2004. He reprised his role as Guy Germaine in The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers (TV Series) in 2021.
The actor met his wife in college
Garette Ratliff Henson is a happily married man. He met his wife, Laurie Savage, during his time at Sarah Lawrence College. The pair dated for a while before eventually getting married in October 2007.
The couple welcomed their only child, a son they named Fox, in 2014. The marriage has lasted for 17 years and counting with no records of scandal or controversy. From what is perceivable, the two look like they are set to take it as far into the future as possible.
