Didi after the year 2012 served as a senior advisor on Community Health and then became the Director of the Biosocial research and social development programs for Partners in Health.

While in Rwanda, Didi worked as the principal investigator on studies that examined group well-being, malnutrition, conventional therapeutics, reproductive health, adolescent youth, etc, and also became chairman of the Haiti Rwanda Commission.

Amongst other things, Dr. Paul is also a writer and has contributed to many books such as “Partner to the Poor” which he co-authored with his wife. He became known for the 2003 book by Tracy Kidder titled Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, a Man who would cure the world.

The book focused on Dr. Farmer’s life story and highlighted his incessant devotion to helping those in need. Through his organization, Dr. Paul was able to raise funds worth millions of dollars which were channeled into the expansion of the network of community health facilities.

Dr. Paul Farmer’s cause of death

Dr. Paul Farmer passed away in his sleep while he was in Butaro, Rwanda, where he was teaching at the University of Global Health Equity. He died at the age of 62 on February 21, 2022, his death was a big loss to both his family and country but his vision for the world is promised to continue to be carried out by Partners in Health. Dr. Paul’s cause of death according to sources was said to be cardiac arrest.

Presently, Didi Bertrand Farmer is serving as the chairperson of the Haiti-Rwanda Commission which was established in 2010 due to the earthquake to promote South-South collaboration and trade between the countries. She is also focused on carrying on with her husband’s dreams.
